I’ve been waiting for this tape to drop ever since I found them over at OVO. Abel Tesfaye (vocals) and Jeremy Rose (production) are The Weeknd, another Toronto-based act that is getting a lot of exposure lately, and rightfully so.

Via MTV:

Toronto can call dibs on yet another talented act. Today (March 21st), The Weeknd, composed of Abel Tesfaye released the mixtape, House of Balloons. The 9-track mixtape entices with sensual lyricism over a blend of synths, ranging from electro hip-hop and alternative indie. It’s obvious from where The Weeknd derives inspiration, sampling from a range of genres, from the Beach House with “Loft Music” to the British rock band, Siouxsie and the Branshiee’s “Happy House” sample on the titled track, “House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls.”

You can download the mixtape from their website here and find the streamer after the cut. I’m definitely loving Wicked Game, anyone else listened yet?

Props to MMB regular Romil for motivating me to get this post up.
