It’s been more than a month since we’ve done a Thursday Classic. My apologies, it’s been kind of busy around here lately. The song we’re bringing to you today is an upbeat track from James and Bobby Purify, who are probably best known for their hit song
I’m Your Puppet, which went all the way to #6 in 1966. It’s a little known but completely false fact that the album cover to Shake a Tail Feather, seen above, is a photo of the world’s first ‘reaction video’, long before the days of Two Girls, One Cup. My bet is that someone had just shown them Long Jeanne Silver (google at your own discretion… actually don’t, it’s totally NSFW). Read on below for more about where I find these great songs.

The Lost and Found is a program that I’ve been listening to, semi-religously, for the past half of a year. Nearly every old song I’ve ever posted on this blog has come from this program, which airs each weekday from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. I am particularly fond of Christopher Vyce’s Thursday show, which is where I first heard this James and Bobby Purify track (along with many others). If you’re even remotely enjoying some of the songs we share here, I urge you to check out the Lost and Found at the the website above (just click on the WMBR image). You can listen to a live stream of the show, as well as an archive steam of every show they’ve aired over the last two weeks. It’s truly a great radio station and program.
