I really wish I had more time to put this post together. I just found out yesterday that Nomo has a handful of tour dates coming up in the extremely near future, and I am rushing to post this for the off chance that someone out there enjoys it and catches their live show as a result. If you’ve never heard of the band, here’s how the Washington Post described them a few years ago: Nomo is one of the tightest, swingingest Afrobeat world-jazz bands on the planet. If that sounds appealing to you, and you happen to be in either NYC or Boston over the next two days, then you should get on this. These guys will be performing tonight (Tuesday, September 14th) at a place called Union Pool in Brooklyn. For the Boston crew, they will be at the Middle East Upstairs tomorrow night (Wednesday, September 15th).

Below you’ll find all three of their albums. I recommend starting with New Tones, it’s definitely their most accessible. If you like what you hear and if the notice is not too short, go see this band live; they will not disappoint. Here is a video that I took of them performing their songs Nu Tones / Sardovaya at the ICA in Boston last summer. This performance starts to get borderline amazing around 1m30s into it; the band left the stage and played one of their greatest songs in the center of the crowd, outdoors on the water, on an absolutely gorgeous night. It was truly one of the best concert experiences I’ve ever had. Enjoy.
