On Thursday, August 5th, Arcade Fire performed a sold out show at Madison Square Garden. Unlike any of their previous sold out shows, this one was broadcast live across the world on Youtube. The broadcast was incredibly well done; streaming in crisp HD with exceptional audio quality, it had buttons to switch the camera angle as well as an option to do a picture-in-picture of two cameras. The entire production was directed by Terry Gilliam, renowned director and original member of Monty Python. Youtube has since taken six of the seventeen songs from the broadcast and made them available permanently. You will find all six of those songs below, in order that they appeared on the stellar setlist (here’s an easier to read version). I’ve also included an official trailer for the event and the bands vocal warmup before the show, during which they sing My Body is a Cage. Don’t skip that one, it might just move you. All of the videos posted here can be streamed (and therefore downloaded) up to a resolution of 1080p, so if you appreciate all things HD, you’re in the right place. Enjoy.
